A Group of Mountain Goats Motif in Northeastern Anatolian Petroglyphs = Kuzeydoğu Anadolu Petrogliflerindeki Bir Grup Dağ Keçisi Motifi

The Eastern Anatolia region, a high plateau, is exceptionally rich in paintings on rocks. Rock paintings in Ardahan, Kars, Erzurum, Erzincan, and Van-Hakkari mountainous region constitute a large part of this wealth. The technique of line, engraving, carving, and pecking was generally used in rock paintings drawn on andesitic and basalt stones in the region. The motifs encountered in rock painting areas are human (shaman), horse, bull - ox - cow, deer, wolf, dog, and sheep - ram mountain goat. Furthermore, scenes of hunting and war, ceremonial and geometric scenes, and celestial shapes are among the covered themes. Sixteen rock pain . . .ting areas were identified in the Northeast Anatolian region. Nine centers were examined in the study; Cildir Baskoy, Borluk Valley/Azat village, Camuslu, Digor/Dolayli, Geyiklitepe, Kurbanaga, Dilli Valley, Cunni Cave, and Senkaya Kaynak village are rock paintings. There are more than 368 figures in these paintings, of which 119 are mountain goat figures. In the study, the morphology of the mountain goat motif in the related rock painting areas was examined, and its symbolic meaning and place in the hunting ritual and the possible cosmic world were analyzed.- Yüksek bir plato özelliği taşıyan Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi kaya resimleri açısından oldukça zengindir. Ardahan, Kars, Erzurum, Erzincan ve Van-Hakkâri dağlık bölgesi kaya resimleri, bu zenginliğin büyük bir kısmını oluşturur. Bölgedeki andezit ve bazalt taşlara çizilen kaya resimlerinde genellikle çizgi, kazıma, oyma ve gagalama tekniğinin kullanıldığı görülür. Kaya resim alanlarında karşılaşılan motifler, insan (şaman), at, boğa - öküz - inek, geyik, kurt, köpek, koyun - koç - dağ keçisi gibi motiflerdir. Bunların yanı sıra av ve savaş sahneleri, tören ve geometrik sahneler ile gökyüzü şekilleri de işlenen diğer temalar arasındadır. Kuzeydoğu Anadolu bölgesinde 16 kaya resim alanı tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada incelenen 9 merkez; Çıldır Başköy, Borluk Vadisi/Azat köyü, Camuşlu, Digor/Dolaylı, Geyiklitepe, Kurbanağa, Dilli Vadisi, Cunni Mağarası ve Şenkaya Kaynak köyü kaya resimleridir. Bu resimlerde 368’ten fazla figür mevcut olup bunların 119’u dağ keçisi figürüdür. Foreign Workers Employment in the Hotel Industry: Evidence from Five-Star Hotels in Antalya

The purpose of this research is to reveal the reasons that prompt hotel managers to employ foreign workers. In this study which used qualitative research method, the managers of 18 five-star hotels operating in Antalya were selected as the sample. Opinions of the managers were collected through semi-structured interview forms via making face-to-face interviews and e-mails. According to prominent findings of the research; it was determined that the most employed foreign workers in hotels within the scope of the sample consisted of “Kyrgyz”, “Ukrainian” and “Russians”, and that the majority of foreign workers served at the “food and b . . .everage department” in the hotels and were employed as “seasonal”. On the other hand, it was determined that the most important reason for the hotel managers to employ foreign workers was that they know “foreign languages”. Convergent Strabismus in a Cat and It’s Surgical Treatment

The aim of this study was to improve visual acuity and esthetic correction in a short hair domestic cat with strabismus. A domestic short hair cat (1 year old, male) referred with visual deficit and progressively obvious strabismus. For recession surgery, medial rectus muscle was detached from the sclera after used suspensory suture. The muscle insertion was recessed 4 mm and sutured to sclera. In conclusion, strabismus can be caused to visual deficy and treated succesfully by recession surgery in cats.

Congenital Glaucoma in Two Cats and Surgical Repair with Trabeculectomy

This current work aims to assess the efficacy and tolerability of trabeculectomy procedure for the management of congenital glaucoma in two cats. Filtration surgery was performed using a limbus-based approach, and flap was raised smoothly to nearly limbus on sclera. Sclera-corneal trabecular block was removed both with surgical knife and microsurgery scissors. Successful result was defined as resolution of leakage with no need for additional surgery, together with maintaining intraocular pressure in the range of 5-21 mmHg with anti-glaucoma medications. Microbiological quality of water buffalo yoghurts retailed in Kayseri = Kayseri İlinde Satışa Sunulan Manda Yoğurtlarının Mikrobiyolojik Kalitesi

Bu çalışmada Kayseri'de satışa sunulan manda yoğurtlarının mikrobiyolojik kalitesinin ortaya konulması amaçlandı. Bu amaçla Kayseri ili ve ilçelerindeki halk pazarlarından temin edilen 100 adet manda yoğurdu örneği materyal olarak kullanıldı. Toplanan örnekler Koliform grubu bakteriler, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., maya-küf, toplam aerobik mezofilik bakteri (TAMB) ve laktik asit bakterileri (LAB) yönünden incelendi. İncelenen 100 adet yoğurt numunesinin 18'inde (%18) ortalama 14,8±0,24 EMS/g koliform bakteri, 9'unda (%9) 1,85±0,18 EMS/g E. coli ve 7'sinde (%7) 4,9±0,21 log10 kob/g düzeyinde S. aureus var . . .lığı belirlendi. Ayrıca numunelerin tamamında ortalama (log10kob/g) 5,21±0,10 maya; 5,16±0 küf; 7,72±0,14 TAMB ve 6,58±0,18 LAB tespit edilirken hiçbir örnekte Salmonella spp. varlığı tespit edilemedi. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre incelenen manda yoğurdu örneklerinin, Türk Gıda Kodeksi Fermente Süt Ürünleri Tebliği'ndeki mikrobiyolojik kriterlere uygun olmadığı ve yedi yoğurt örneğinin tebliğde yer almayan ancak gıda güvenliği bakımından tehlike olarak tanımlanan S. aureus ile kontamine olduğu tespit edildi. - Anahtar Kelimeler: Manda yoğurdu, Escherichia coli, koliform bakteri, Staphylococcus aureus, mikrobiyolojik kalite = The purpose of this study was to determine the microbiological quality of water buffalo yoghurts sold at retail in Kayseri province of Turkey. Total 100 yoghurt samples were collected from public bazaars of the centre and four different districts of Kayseri. Samples were analyzed for the presence and numbers of total coliforms, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., yeast, moulds, total aerobic mesophilic bacteria (TAMB) and lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Among the samples analyzed, 18 (18%), 9 (9%) and 6 (6%) of the samples were found to be contaminated with coliforms, E. coli and S. aureus with the mean counts of 14.8±0.24 MPN/g, 1.85±0.18 MPN/g and 4.9±0.21 log10 cfu/g respectively. In addition, all of the samples found to be contaminated with yeast, moulds, TAMB and LAB with the mean numbers (as log10cfu/g) of 5.21±0.10, 5.16±0.08,7.72±0.14 and 6.58±0.18 respectively. Salmonella spp. was not isolated from any samples. The results of this study demonstrated that water buffalo yoghurt samples examined in the study do not meet cover the microbiological criteria of the Turkish Food Codex Communique on Fermented Milk and also seven samples were found to be contaminated with S. aureus not included in the communique, but defined as hazard in terms of food safety. - Key Words: Water buffalo yoghurt, Escherichia coli, coliforms, Staphylococcus aureus, microbiological qualit More less

A Study on the Use of Tourism as a Soft Power Instrument in International Relations

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the political crisis between the Russian Federation and Turkey in 2015 on the tourism sector in the latter. The political crisis was sparked by shooting down of a Russian military aircraft by the Turkish warplanes on the Turkish – Syrian border in November 2015. During that period, the Russian Federation implemented a number of decisions, one of which was a travel ban to Turkey, and this negatively impacted the Turkish tourism sector, particularly in Antalya. The research involved obtaining information on how tourism was used as a soft power instrument by the Russian Federation . . .as a deterrent. A qualitative method was used, as well as phenomenology. The data were collected through a semi-structured survey that included five themes about which the selected tourism partners in Turkey were interviewed. For the research, with its subcategories of tourists and tour operators, tourism is regarded as a soft power instrument. The reaction of the cardiovascular system to anesthetics can be various and different, based on dosing, the experimental model, and agent sele-ction. A few studies have compared the effects of different anesthetic agents used for trans-thoracic echocardiography on cardiac functions in dogs; however, none of these studies examined the effects of different anesthetic regimes and their reversal by atipamezole echoc ardio graph icall y. The aim of this study was to investigate, visualize, and clarify in vivo both the short-term echocardiographic impacts of medet omidi ne-ke tamin e and medet omidi ne-pr opofo l anesthesia regimes and th . . .eir reversal in dogs. Twenty sexually intact female dogs (weighing between 5.7 and 14.5 kg and 0.5-3 years of age) referred for ovariohysterectomy procedure from a local shelter at regular intervals over 3 months were included in the study. Echocardiographic measurements of the two-dimensional guided M-mode echocardiography were conducted with the dogs positioned in right lateral recumbence. Both groups showed declines in interventricu-lar septum percent, left ventricular diameter percent, and left ventricular ejection fraction after anesthesia induction (baseline vs. T1, all, p < .05); nevertheless, the reduction and starting pattern of interventricular septum percent, left ventricular diameter percent, and left ventricular ejection fra-ction presented important intergroup distinction. The article studies the poetics of the genre (the genre form) in a dramatic kind of literature. The subject of the scientific analysis is the plays of a famous Kyrgyz playwright Mar Baidjiev "We are men" and "An ancient tale", the latter is posited as drama by the writer, but according to the author of the article, both plays are considered to be parables. Reading Baidjiev's plays through the prism of parables significantly enriches their perception as a reader, researcher, and stage director.
