Chapter of Books | 2018 | Vegetation of Central Asia and Environs ( Chapter 16 )

The national parks are the most important tools in biodiversity conservation. The generally include remote and rugged areas possessing a low possibility for human use. They are of lower economic value. Currently the Republic of Kyrgyzstan possesses a total of eight national parks. These cover approximately 1.4 of national territory. One of these national parks is the Ala-Archa National Park. During the period covering the months from May to October, every weekend hundreds of visitors pay a visit to this oldest national park of the country established in 1976. The 25 km long park has a total area of 194 km2. This area encompasses the . . . upper watershed of the Ala-Archa River. The park shows a microclimate of almost every ecosystem existing in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, including the forests of mixed conifers, deciduous and dwarf juniper forests, scrubland, grassland steppe, sagebrush semidesert, river valleys, glaciers, and high alpine environments. The total number of vascular plants growing in the national park is 756 taxa. These belong to 73 families and 324 genera. Six hundred twenty-three taxa are from the dicotyledonous group, whereas 121 taxa are from the monocotyledonous group. This chapter presents an analysis of the economical potential of plant diversity of this national park. Keywords: Ala-Archa National Park. Plant diversity. Economic potentia More less

Objective: The aim of this study is to examine how malolactic fermentation and classical fermentation affect the physicochemical and sensory properties of wines made from red and white grapes. Methods: In our research, we opted for Sauvignon blanc variety in white grapes and locally produced Kalecik karasi and French Merlot variety in red grapes all of which are recognised as important grape varieties both in our country and around the world. To preserve the natural aroma of the grape, start the fermentation rapidly and ensure formation of a balanced amount of glycerol, the use of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain among vine yeasts de . . .emed suitable. Oenoccus oeni MBR@UVAFERM@BETA (2x1011CFU/g) (Lallemand Inc., France) strain was used for malolactic fermentation. Sensory analyzes of the produced wines, chromatographic analysis of organic acids, and pysico-chemical analyses of products which are formed as a result of the processing of the fruits, were also made. For this purpose, the panelists evaluated the wines according to seven different criteria and the evaluation was made on a nine-point hedonic scale, and the most liked sample was given 9 points and the least liked one was given 1 point. Chemical and sensory properties of the produced wines were evaluated statistically. Results: As a result of our study, it has been determined that the amount of ash in red wines is higher which indicates higher amount of grape extracts obtained from Kalecik karasi and Merlot grapes. When compared according to fermentation types, the amount of lactic acid increased in wines produced by malolactic fermentation whereas the amount of phenolic compounds was higher in ethyl alcohol concentrations, and these values decreased with malolactic fermentation. Additionally, the accommodation of two foreign origin grapes one of which is red and the other one white, country's geography has been revealed in this study with the characteristics of the wine produced. Conclusion: The harmony of two foreign grapes, one red and one white grape, to the geography of our country was revealed with the characteristics of the wine produced. As a result of the thesis study, it was found that malolactic fermentation improved the quality of the wine, making it more pleasurable. In this context, the results of the research has the quality and attributes that will shed light on winemakers. Keyword: malolactic fermentation; phenolic compounds; wine; maceratio More less

Influence of Peptide Bioregulators on Indicators of Hemostasis in Blood of Irradiated Experimental Animals at Low Altitude Conditions

Gülbübü KURMANBEKOVA | Nurcamal ÖMÜRZAKOVA | Bermet KIDIRALİYEVA

Article | 2023 | Journal of the Turkish Chemical Society Section A: Chemistry10 ( 4 )

In modern biology and medicine, much attention is paid to the study of the hemostasis regulation of some cell populations by substances of a peptide nature. They have the ability to regulate the functional and proliferative activity of cells and ensure communication in normal and pathological conditions. Research data showed that significant violations of the hemostatic system also occur with radiation damage to the body. One of the first radiation responses involves the coagulation cascade's activation, which leads to the breakdown of fibrinogen and the formation of fibrin clots. The potential threat of this is quite evident due to . . . the existence of uranium mining tailings in several regions of the Kyrgyz Republic. Considering that significant disturbances of the hemostatic system occur during radiation damage to the body, and effective means are clearly not enough, the study of the effect of bioregulatory peptides in these conditions is of great importance. In the study, we carried out the total X-ray irradiation of laboratory animals on the X-ray therapeutic apparatus RUM-17. Peptide bioregulators peptide-1 and peptide-2 were administered intramuscularly to irradiated animals. Throughout the research, we used methods characterizing all links of hemostasis: vascular-platelet hemostasis, coagulation hemostasis, and fibrinolysis. The study has shown that the use of the peptide bioregulators in the background of acute radiation pathology leads to a decrease in the intensity of the chronic course of post-radiation thrombo hemorrhagic syndrome, contributing to an increase in the content of antithrombin III in the blood and modulating the versatile effects of endogenous heparin, which undoubtedly have a beneficial effect on the pathogenesis of radiation sickness. Article | 2020 | Polish Journal of Environmental Studies29 ( 6 )

In this study, five agronomic traits of 29 barley accessions were evaluated in different agro-environmental conditions. Accessions represented cultivars from Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, and the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as landraces from northeastern and eastern Russia. The field experiments were carried out in two countries (Latvia and Kyrgyzstan) in order to select the suitable genotypes or cultivars as a source for Kyrgyz barley breeding programs. Among the accessions studied, we found material that can be used in Kyrgyz breeding as potential sources of earliness, spike length and TKW. Among the cultivars, 'Cecilia' from Swede . . .n showed an attractive agronomic performance, and had constant behaviour under Kyrgyz climatic conditions during two years of trials. Other cultivars like 'Saana.', 'Sencis' and 'Mette' can also be included in future breeding due to their earliness, plant height, spike length and number of kernels. There were cultivars that had the stabile response of number of agronomic characters in these two locations over both years of trials. For example, the cultivars 'Cecilia', Mette, 'Saana' were stable in HD, SL, and NGS in different climatic conditions. Also, among the landraces there were candidates who showed stable behaviour for SL and TKW More less

Article | 2020 | Polish Journal of Environmental Studies29 ( 4 )

The aim of this work was to compare various ecological indexes to assess the state of urbanized ecosystems of the Issyk-Kul region in the Kyrgyz Republic. Soil samples were analyzed for Pb, Zn, Fe, Cu and Cd using AAS. Heavy metal contamination status was assessed using indexes for enrichment factor, geo accumulation, contamination factor, degree of contamination, pollution load, potential ecological risk and integrated risk using the Triad approach. Results show marked variations of heavy metal concentrations within the study area. The concentrations of heavy metals in soils of Issyk-Kul had the following increasing order: Zn> Pb> . . .Cu> Cd. Indexes such as enrichment factor and contamination factor showed the Issyk-Kul soils to be moderately polluted with Pb, Zn and Cd; geoacumulation revealed extreme contamination with Pb, Zn and Cu. Potential ecological risk estimated low risk, while the Triad approach characterized soil as highly contaminated. The Triad approach shows that using biotic components in evaluating the contamination degrees is informative. The results of this study show that adequate measures should be put to checkmate and regulate human activities around Issyk-Kul Lake in order to protect soil from further deterioration and contamination More less

Article | 2015 | Biotechnology and Biotechnological Equipment29 ( 6 )

Uncontrolled and unplanned urbanization and industrialization due to increase of population and rapid industrial development have created severe environmental problems in Kyrgyzstan during the last few decades. In this study, Juniperus virginiana, a dioecious species, was employed in order to make assessment of the heavy metal pollution rate in the area and of the heavy metal pollution impact on the mineral nutrient status of the plant. For this study, leaf (washed and unwashed) and bark samples of J. virginiana, and its co-located soil samples were collected from eight different stations, all in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, . . .in 2012 vegetation period. The standard procedures were used and the determinations of heavy metal and nutrient element contents (Ca, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Pb and Zn) in all samples were done using inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy. According to our measurements, J. virginiana was found to be capable of accumulating a considerable amount of metals and the mineral nutrient uptake pattern was altered because of metal deposition in the plant, which showed a contamination risk in the area. - Author Keywords: Juniperus virginiana; heavy metal pollution; mineral nutrient status; Bishkek; Kyrgyzsta More less

Article | 2018 | Fresenius Environmental Bulletin27 ( 2 )

Cirsium species have economic importance because of their botanical and medicinal properties. Thus, this study has aimed to investigate some heavy metal (Fe, Mn and Zn) and mineral nutrient (B, Ca, K, Mg and Na) status of narrow endemic Cirisum byzantinum. Plant and soil element concentrations were analyzed by using ICP-OES and the evaluation of plant-soil interactions for heavy metals and mineral nutrients were carried out by statistical methods. The measured element concentrations (in mg/kg) were in ranges of 5.936-19.044 for B, 1862.161-4811.168 for Ca, 12.610-38.474 or Fe, 3421.383-6881.885 for K, 190.984-593.427 for Mg, 3.830-1 . . .7.301 for Mn, 21.236-62.025 for Na, and 6.183-28.060 for Zn in plant parts. Statistical analysis for element interactions between root/leaf and co-located soil samples revealed that there a was positive correlation between B, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na and Zn found in soil and Na and Zn found in roots, and Fe, Mn and Na found in leaves, respectively. Herein, results of this study could provide preliminary knowledge for future studies to better understand element uptake and heavy metal accumulation status of endemic species. Also, this study could also provide some insights for responsible authorities to develop conservation strategies More less
